AREA INFO

Double Eagle Resort is located in June Lake, California off State Highway 395 (see site map). We are 20 miles north of Mammoth Lakes, home to one of the West’s premier ski resorts. Here in our June Lake Loop is June Mountain, just minutes from the Resort, and a great ski and snowboarding site for the entire family. In spring, summer and early fall the Loop has great fishing, boating, hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming and of course, The Double Eagle Resort & Spa.

Other nearby attractions include: (some of the sites are not accessible in winter)
Yosemite National Park, The most visited National Park in the U.S. with over 2 million visitors each year. Visitors can travel by car all the way to the Valley floor to explore the pristine lakes, day hike, horseback ride and enjoy the spectacular rock formations and waterfalls. The Resort is located just 12 miles from the eastern entrance to the park.

Mono Lake, an ancient inland saltwater sea with two visible volcanic islands and shorelines dotted with strange formations (Tufas). The Forest Service offers guided walks, kayak and canoe tours. The Visitors museum features local photography, gull research, wildflower and Native American information.

Bodie Ghost Town, a California State Historical Park. It was a booming gold mining town with over 10,000 miners in the 1870-80’s. Over $35 million in gold was mined during those years. It is the largest un-restored ghost town in the western United States and a photographer’s paradise. The town features weathered buildings, a museum and a visitor center.

Devil’s Post Pile, a National Monument of huge basalt columns of volcanic origin which were formed over many centuries. Great flows of lava cooled forming stress fractures producing columns ranging from four to seven sides. Just a two mile hike downstream from Devil’s Post Pile is majestic Rainbow Falls, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the Sierra. The falls have a 101 foot drop in the Lava formation which sends rainbows of color from its mist.
